Default I Still Miss Someone (Johnny Cash)

All right. So my vacation is about over, but it has afforded me a lot of time to play guitar and make some recordings (for better or worse). This one is a really simple, quick Johnny Cash number, a good, old country song about heartbreak and loneliness. This is one of those songs that my Dad would love, and when I play bluegrass numbers and old country tunes, it kind of feels like he's there with me. Yes, I am a sentimental old fat man.

A very nice version of a tune I love to play. You have made it your own. I fingerpick it, but I really like your flatpicked variant.

Keep those tunes a-coming...

Very nice, Tim! You make that Yamaha sound good!

It's amazing the value you get with those guitars!

Hey, thank you. I had all but forgotten this one. I appreciate the encouragement. I love Johnny Cash, and I always love playing any of his songs.

Thank you, Glenn. I am trying to find things to dislike about the FG830, but I am failing at that so far. And the guitar basically costs nothing--$375 with tax. People spend three or four times that money on a stupid cell phone, you know.

Yamaha has definitely got it going on right now at all price points.

Joe, I have a bunch of recordings that I have never shared here. I don't want to be that guy who floods the sub with threads, although nobody would care, I bet.

As far as that FG830, I had one a few years ago, and it was really good. I sold it to a friend who needed a guitar badly. I had a little extra cash recently, and I ordered another one online. When the guitar showed up, I was shocked to find that the action was perfect, and it sounded and felt incredible. All I did was change the strings, replace one of the strap buttons so they would match, and tweak the truss rod slightly. It sounds at least twice as good as the older one, and even now I am baffled by this guitar. Yamaha is just something else, I suppose.

Thanks for checking it out and all the kindness--Tim.

Yes, it is a relatively simple song, but it has a very good storyline, and a change from I to IV to V -but also a V - IV -V - I, and the bridge is IV- V - I with an optional iiim.

It's a song I often use when teaching basic bass and rhythm techniques, and .... space in accompaniment.

JC's songs are mostly very simple but very effective.

Oh, gosh, I am not good with music theory at all, and I really don't even know scales. I mostly play by ear and am obviously self-taught. If I played it wrong, I apologize. I thought that was how it went. I appreciate your comment, though.
