Thanks for sharing this! For whatever reason this song really resonates with my 29 year old son and his friends (we've never been to West Virginia or Colorado with him BTW).

Now for the million dollar question... were the lyrics really about West Virginia (the state, with capital W) or west Virginia (the western part of the state of Virginia)?

Obviously, we will never know... but topological references are more related to west Virginia than West Virginia.

My dad and his family is from West Virginia so this question has been around my family since the song was first released...
