I just went to Rainsong, Mcpherson, Emerald, Kloss, Lava me, and Composite Acoustics websites

Things are looking good for that price drop.

None of the companies say that they will not use tree grown carbon fiber.
Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourselves. I predict a 30% price reduction once they start using the easier to obtain CF.

...and for you environmentally sensitive people, unlike petroleum, tree grown carbon fiber is a renewable resource.

Its win win for everyone.

it depends on whether the used trees will be ALL replanted responsibly but not only, considering that growth is so slow and the lack of immediate availability I think it is difficult for humans to think about the environment and not about profit, it is our system (which is wrong)

i didn't follow the websites of other carbon fiber guitar manufacturers, just the emerald website. I don't think I've seen price reductions in recent months ... compared to when you find lower prices?

Hey - don’t even bother if they’re not organic and paleo.

Does anyone know if these trees are amenable to coppicing? That way we'd have a secure environment and our guitars. Coppicing would allow for years of harvest and lead to a sustainable CF guitar production.

I looked into that.

Kramer and Hilgo 1973. Post coppice effect of carbon fiber properties in Picea Carbifibrous J. Plant Physiol 45:3 1067-1071.

It can be done. The authors saw no difference in carbon fiber length, strength, or bundle size, 7 years after the procedure, when compared to seed grown plants.

Despite the fact that these carbon fibers come from plants, they are still not edible.

Its coming. They are not going to advertise it now as they want you to pay current prices and not wait for the price drop.

Arbourists have inserted cuttings from chrysler kcars into Picea Carbifibrous to induce woodie patterns and colours (to save the cost of veneers).

The major breakthrough was to embed the cuttings vertically for unidirectional grain.

Research with cordoba cuttings produces a fine leathery texture that may reduce the need for guitar body contours.

One of the cool advantages of this new source is that it may be amenable to intarsia. Instead of just a veneer to face the world, we can now do inlays from various CF strains. The only-wood guys are going to be so left behind.
