Just think how mush better Karaoke could be with a tonedexter like devise. You could punch in the Frank Sinatra preset, and sound like him plus be autotuned while you belt out New York New York.

On one level, these devices do horrify me, but like backing tracks, canned drums and all, it's not on a par with genocide.

Never heard autotune (or a looper or harmonizer for that matter) make a person with no talent sound good.

Iíve been using a harmonizer and looper since they first came out. Luv Ďem! I could care less what anyone thinks. My gig(s) is my creative space. Youíre free to leave if you donít like it. Still getting paid to play music after 20 years! Quit your petty whining and Rock On!

So dramatic..... "horrified."

Just talking about pitch correction now, it actually can be very beneficial to the singer. I used one for a while and it makes you hear the dissonance inside your head when you're not spot on. That actually trains you to fix your pitch to remove the dissonance. After some training, you can take it off your board.

Frankly, if I'm listening to someone and they're using subtle pitch correction so I don't notice, I don't give a rat's butt. I'd rather hear someone sing in tune than some holier than thou purist sing off key. And yeah, you might be one. :-)

I'm "horrified" that anyone wouldn't know about autotune, harmonizers, loopers, etc. It's part of the territory when being informed about music technology.

As far as boosting someone's career, Autotune sure didn't hurt Cher's any.

First one to use autotune in a pro recording was Cher.

Even she regrets it.

Some kids asked me if i new any Justin Bieber song. I didn't but I heard the name and new he was popular. So I googled a few songs. My God!!!!!! It was the worst case of autotune Iv'e heard since chers "I belive". How can anyone like autotune!

Even more funny is that if you watch talent shows like "Idol", a lot of kids try to emulate autotune with there dry voices without autotune.

This thread has strong "old man shakes fist at clouds" vibes.

I was getting more of a "You kids get off my lawn" with hints of blackberry or pepper and a bouquet tending towards apricot.

I think this is more accurate. Perhaps they are shaking a fist out a cloud while telling the kids to get off the lawn and also complaining about today's music.

I finally booted my MicMechanic..i started using the voice exciter, verb, and a little correction, moved to just the exciter and reverb and finally just sold it, All I need is reverb and compression now
And the compression is mainly for the guitar

Interleague play!?!?!? What is that garbage? Next thing you know they'll do something crazy like making double headers 7 innings for each game.
