Condition

The guitar is in near-mint condition. No issues whatsoever with this instrument.

There is very little wear and no dings, scratches or marks anywhere. The instrument has always been carefully maintained in a smoke-free, humidity-controlled environment. When not played, the guitar remains in its case. This instrument has been finger-picked at home, no gigs, no traveling, no heavy strumming: zero mistreatment.

The guitar is totally original: zero modifications. The original Taylor Deluxe hard shell case is also in excellent condition.


Performance Characteristics

Describing guitar performance characteristics is difficult at best. Words are not sufficient to convey the meaning obtained by simply playing the instrument. I would encourage interested players to seek out a Taylor dealer in their area and play a 714ce equipped with a Western Red Cedar soundboard. The cedar version of the 714ce has a distinct timbre, different than the spruce alternatives offered by Taylor.

Regardless, Taylor guitars are well known for their play-ability, and this instrument is very playable. The low-profile mahogany neck is comfortable, allowing for longer playing time with less strain. Players requiring amplification can take advantage of Taylor's integrated Expression System electronics.

The guitar projects a balanced overall timbre with cedar's tendency to highlight warm tones. The guitar also delivers a surprisingly clear high register and a powerful bottom end. The instrument sustains admirably with beautiful overtones; even a slight string attack produces strong volume. This guitar is ideal for both moderate strumming and finger-picking techniques.
