Default Thrill Is Gone

Hello folks,

I posted a version of this about a year ago, but was never happy with the recording quality, or my playing, for that matter. So thank you in advance for putting up with my re-do! This is my tribute to B.B. King, who was a big influence on me. I’ve changed some things since last time: first of all, I now own a much blusier guitar (Kopp) which fits the song better. Also, I used drop-D tuning to add some “oomph”.

A funny thing happened while recording - I lost focus at one point during the middle solo section and found myself improvising instead of playing what I had worked out and practiced. Surprisingly, I like it better - so this is the version I kept.

Thank you so much for listening!

This is great Larry! That part in the middle is something else

I love all the Kings but BB is hard to beat!

Wow! Superb, Larry... I love it. I remember the first one, but yeah... that might just be better. Outstanding... excellent use of dynamics... great bluesy feel.

My only complaint is... why don't you post here MORE OFTEN???

Thank you!

Great playing, Larry And I couldn't agree more with Kerbie: post more!

One thing tho; if I were you I would add a slight touch of reverb. Makes the sound fuller. (just my two cents ofcorse)

Thanks so much Bob! I agree with you about the Kings. I had the good fortune to see Albert live once and BB twice, but never Freddie (he died in 1976). American blues royalty!

Thanks for your comment

Thanks Kerbie! Reworking this song is something I’ve wanted to do for awhile, and I’m happier with the way this version came out than the last one. Plus I’ve figured out how to record myself a little better. I always appreciate your support

Thanks Rick. I’ll have to experiment a little more with the reverb. I actually did add a touch, but was afraid to add too much as the room was already very echoey (is that a word?). Thanks so much for your comment and advice
