Hey fellow Cutlass convert here as well. I think the word is getting around on the Axis. That was my first EBMM which I still have as well.

Just a few months ago GC and Reverb had quite a few Axis for sale. Just looked and GC has only 1 used. Didn't check Cutlass. I'll never part with either. Glad I got them when I did.

Not to take this thread totally off track, but most Guitar Centers are closed right now, that's why used stock fell off a cliff. It was pointed out in a thread in the main forum. The Axis is a design that has been around for nearly 30 years, first as the EVH model, then taking on the Axis name in '95 after he left for Peavey. The sport was added as an entry level model in the late 90s, then the super sport as a more versatile version of the full Axis, which remains nearly identical to the original EVH model. It was easily MusicMan's man popular model up until maybe 7-8 years ago when they started expanding their product lineup (Cutlass being one of them). The Ernie Ball forum is rather active, there are folks with very large Axis collections (one guy has something like over 200 of them!). I currently have an Axis Tribute, which was a pull out all the stops limited edition attempt at a reissue of the original EVH - super quilt top, super flamey/birdseye neck, hand dyed colors, brown back, etc. Superb guitar.

I hadn't taken that into consideration although GC didn't exactly have an abundance of Axis and Cutlass used in stock to begin with. Thanks for a good summary of the Axis history. I have the Super Sport and like the Cutlass just a joy of an instrument. Some feel the neck is a bit narrow but like everything else, reason why there is a plethora of brands and brands within brands.

It's interesting regarding MusicMan necks. I have no trouble with the necks on the Petrucci models, the Reflex, or the Axis but the Luke neck just didn't agree with me at all. Everybody has their preference though I suppose.
