Default USB Condenser Mics

I bought a Blue Snowball USB condenser mic a while back to record acoustic guitar and vocals. I've had a lot of fun with it, and have managed to get some decent recordings in the process. The only drawback is that it doesn't play well with Vista, which is a very, very common theme concerning that operating system. I have to bring my work laptop home that has XP. (I use Audacity to record with.) Has anyone found a USB condenser mic that will work with Vista?

Hi KYT...
What about a Zoom H2 standalone recorder?
In addition to being a standalone recorder, it can also become a USB mic (two selectable stereo pairs of mics actually).

And since it records to SD cards in standalone mode, they can be read by Vista via an external card reader if the unit doesn't work with Vista (or even if it does). I hooked mine up this way once for fun because Fran Guidry said we could, and it's ok. If you use it as a USB mic it records directly to the computer.

It's much quieter to move it away from the computer (which makes noise) and record and then come back and dump things into the computer. However, it will also work as a USB mic for multitrack use with Audacity, CubaseLE, and lots of other software programs...just a thought.

ljguitar,

Thanks for the advice! That would be a nice workaround, although at some point I guess I could spring for some decent components to record with. But that is another post for another time! Thanks again!
