I had a guitar that looked almost exactly like that - though I'm sure it wasn't a Gibson. Truth be told, I actually thought it was "gaudy." I try not to remember why I don't have it anymore and regret it every time I think about it. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder; I should've had it repaired and passed it on to somebody who would appreciate it.

Default My prettiest guitar

...is this one. Since Gibson J-29s are out of production, they aren't written about that much. A few months ago I was trolling around the interwebs looking for stories about them to expand my knowledge of them, and came across the following reverb ad for a J-29.

I was enjoying looking at the pictures, thinking how it looked so much like mine. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the picture of the label within the sound hole...and discovered that THAT guitar was the one I bought! I didn't buy it from this seller, and I sure didn't pay that much for it...but that guitar...is my guitar.

My Goodall Grand Concert is the "best looking" guitar I've ever owned... also the most accurate, even-toned instrument I own. Built for me by James and Luke in 2011 at the Fort Bragg shop...

Mastergrade Redwood over "fiddleback" mahogany... pink heart abalone rosette was a gift from James and Luke; the guitar was my 60th birthday present to myself!

The Martin D-45V I bought new in 1997 is not only my best looker, it's the second best sounding acoustic I've ever played (just behind a certain 1940 D-45).

Still have the most attractive guitar you've owned?

I consider my Guild F512 to be the handsomest of them all, and still have it. I will add that numbers 2 and 3, both Lowdens, are long gone.

You bet.

A 1985 Gibson J200, featuring beautiful bookmatched rosewood back and sides. And a naturally-aged spruce top.

Besides, It's a J200. It has that iconic shapely look. And it has unique fretboard and headstock inlays, including a "the Gibson" scripted inlay on the headstock.

Yup. Still have it. No bling, Just nice balanced lines to my eye.

And it sounds nice, too.

Gotta say, some stunningly beautiful instruments here.
However, I wont be selling this one.
I've never played anything that sounds, looks or plays better.
I prefer the simple, rare beauty of this Jake Robinson SJ Bearclaw Sitka/Old Growth Brazilian Rosewood.
Sounds even better than it looks.

Default Martin (ECHF) Belleza Nera

I feel fortunate to have a Martin (ECHF) Belleza Nera which I purchased new in 2004/5. Label is hand-signed by Clapton. Martin even thought enough of it to put it next to the "peacock" on the cover of their book "Martin Guitar Masterpieces". The only black acoustic I own, it plays and sounds fantastic. I've seen both Clapton and Roger Waters play theirs in concert several times and Jon Bovi once. Sorry no recent pics of the body, so using stock pics. The headstock pic is mine.

I guess I'd have to say I still have it - since i haven't sold anything in a very long while. But which one? That depends upon the day. Often it's the hatcher with outrageous top and back (and great pipes too). Then the Leach with a beautiful Sequoia top and the darkest macassar I've ever seen. But then I look at the Kinnaird and it's unique and beautiful lines, with everything "just right". And then.....

Yes, my Breedlove Masterclass Koa Dreadnought. Definitely the most detailed and beautiful guitar I have owned.
