I had the chance today to use my 000-15SM with a Seymour Duncan wood soundhole pickup, through a Fender amp.
I'm happy to report that monels work great with a magnetic pickup. The wound and unwound strings were correctly balanced and the tone was very nice (although it was more of an electric guitar tone than an acoustic guitar tone, that's just the way it goes with soundhole pickups). I'm looking forward to trying monels on my '64 Kay Speed Demon thinline archtop at its next restringing.

I just strung up a set of Retros on my Martin.
Will see what I think after they settle in a bit. |
