I've been listening to a lot of "classic soul"/Motown lately:

Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers
Sitting on the Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
People Get Ready - Curtis Mayfield
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

It's my "summertime" mix that harkens back to the days of my youth in the early 1970s when I used to play all day in the sun. It doesn't translate well to acoustic though. I didn't pick that up until I was a "moody" teenager, so I've been breaking out my Strat instead.

Pulled Carol King's Tapestry off the shelf tonight. I've forgotten what a masterpiece this album is. Not a bad song in the bunch.

At night the radio is on a "hits of the 70's and 80's" station to soothe me to sleep. When I actually sit and listen to music, it is normally Hawaiian slack key guitar, a style I like to play and am trying to internalize more through osmosis..

Now I'm listening and learning a bunch of Stephen Wake's arrangements:

I also like to listen to Simon Fox and Al Petteway.

It's a really intimate album, letting the cat out of the bag on how much guitarist/bandleader Andrew Latimer missed his home in England during his tax exile days. He moved back a couple of years after the album was released. It's dedicated to his old chum, keyboardist Peter Bardens (1944-2002), who died earlier the year of the CD's release.

Hadn't spotted this thread was resurrected, but had to chime in seeing a Camel album mentioned. Andy Latimer has to be the most melodious electric player there is: just go see them live and experience 'Ice' in it's full glory. Hoping they bring out some new material soon - Andy told me he had some stuff they were working on 3 years ago!

Me, I am currently listening to 'Reckless & Me', Kiefer Sutherland's new one. Going to see him live again next month.

Thanks for the tip. Followed the link myself and had a listen. As a fellow Simon Fox fan, I can see why you like him. Will have to buy at least one of his albums to get the tab book to learn one of his two arrangements of Welsh singer-songwriter Huw Williams' 'Summer Before The War' or 'Rosemary's Sister', which are completely different takes on the tunes to the ones by Simon Nicol of Fairport Convention.

Gave The Cranberries' last (and final) album, In The End, a listen this afternoon at work. Solid sign-off.

Thanks for the heads up on The Cranberries final album. I haven't listened to that, yet. R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan.

All over the place, as usual. Here's what's been played in my car, in the past week;

Grateful Dead - American Beauty
Ruth Moody - The Garden
The Milk Carton Kids - The Ash & Clay
Eric Anderson - Stages: The Lost Album
Jonathan Edwards - Jonathan Edwards
Justin Rutledge - No Never Alone
Justin Rutledge - The Devil On A Bench In Stanley Park
Simon & Garfunkel - Live From NYC, 1967
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Carole King - The Living Room Tour
David Soul - The Best Of David Soul (No Kidding!)
George Harrison - Let It Roll
CCR - Chronicle
City & Colour - Live At The Orange Lounge
Bread - Anthology of Bread

A real "meli melo". Really digging into The Milk Carton Kids. Trying to find/learn/be influenced and inspired by musical ideas on all these albums. Online - Joe Zambon, Lucy Kaplansky, Foy Vance (love Foy Vance!), Robert Joseph Manning, Jr (formerly of Jellyfish - his album "Solid State Warrior" - incredible stuff), Badfinger, America Live, a Youtube artist Austin Criswell (his online version of Adele's "Make You Feel My Love" is awesome, to my ears, but all his stuff is fantastic), a ton of stuff off NPR Music's "Tiny Desk Concert" Series, some of James Taylor's live acoustic stuff from the '80s, because he's playing an L-series Yamaha, like the one I am about to get back from my luthier!

Gotta love music!
