Martin 00-21S Authentic
This is a 1961 00-28G converted to the specs of the ultra rare 00-21S (of which there were 17 made 1937 and 1938) by the Martin Repair Shop. The Repair Shop, unlike the Custom Shop, is allowed to use any Authentic spec except the Aged finish so this guitar was made entirely with Authentic series specs. It is ULTRA responsive, clear and loud.
Specs: 1 3/4” nut 24.9” scale Premium Adirondack top Authentic 1/4” scalloped bracing Authentic 1937 style neck with a T bar Brazilian rosewood binding for the body Authentic thin finish The back and sides are old growth Brazilian rosewood. Comes with an H&D TKL tweed case that fits the guitar perfect. $old Pics here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vruxgpgdf...yqAxLRzVa?dl=0 Last edited by pcf; 09-20-2020 at 09:28 AM. |

That is the most beautiful Martin vintage-modern (I don’t know what to call it) guitar I have ever seen. That top is incredible and the Brazilian is sparklingly gorgeous. If only I had the room and the funds.
Could you please post some sound clips? Best luck with the sale! |

I’ll second (or triple?) what’s already been said. Maybe the coolest guitar on AGF right now! Sure has quite a story...and tone, I’m sure.

Very interesting and lovely.... do you know what year the conversion was done? Also any chance you're within 700'ish miles of Denver?

The conversion was done in 2018-2019. I am on the MS gulf coast but shipping to Denver is quick!
Around the time I sent this off I started suffering from arthritis in my fretting fingers so I have been playing less and am selling off almost all my guitars. Especially the ones with wider nuts. I REALLY like this one. |

I'm sure it's amazing. It certainly looks it. I just love my Pre*War 000-28 quite a bit and have already found it to compare favorably to 3 pre-war Martins, so I'm really hoping to do an in-person comparison.
FWIW, I almost did a similar thing w/ an early 60s 00-28G, to purchase and send to the Martin repair shop, but I was quoted nearly a year at the time so I opted to not go thru with it. Then the Pre*War came shortly after.

Yes
I was just about to post that. I was about to post that link. I was wrong on the numbers tough. Only eleven were made. Not seventeen.

Well that went quick lol. Congrats to the new owner!
Also pcf, I hope your arthritis is kept under control with your smaller necked instruments.
