Crystal Mill, taken Saturday. Probably the most-photographed structure in Colorado, despite the fact that it is hard to get to.

Lovely, Ken. I'm heading to Crested Butte today and considered going there as I've never been. Nixed the idea because the Schofield Pass road is extreme 4wd. Should get some nice fall photos from CB to share though.

A buddy sent me pics from mountain biking in Crested Butte last weekend, the colors are really starting to pop.

I was up near the Schofield Pass road back in the spring, but it was still too snowy to navigate. Just as well- I googled it when I got home and learned that 17 people have been killed on that road in the past couple of decades.

No thanks. I go to the high country with a friend who has a beefed-up 4Runner, and it is an amazing vehicle. And he is an excellent driver. But still, you can get yourself in trouble up there. The road up to Crystal Mill was probably the roughest road I've ever been on, and I was glad when we got back down.

And I hope to see some photos from you, Mr. Paul!

KevWind, check this one out, speaking of the Shire. They even had round doors at one time!

(They are actually old coke ovens near Redstone, taken the same day as the other one.)

Got to spend 2 days in the Crested Butte / Gunnison Colorado region this week. Overall a bit of a down year, had to get out of the car and explore. Only the first one is from the road.
