Paul
Eager for more ... oh yes, I am. ..and I enjoy the process... the only part of that I have trouble taming is the impatience.
Thanks a lot for following!

Ok, time for an update.
I mentioned before that we had to change the initial plans for the inlays.
The original idea was, to inlay something like this:
This is a slice out of an agate - a nicely structured and coloured stone built through consecutive deposition of silicate layers, often with varying colours. Grinding and polishing brings out the nice surfaces.
We managed to get slices cut thin enough to be inlayed.
The internal structure and striation was mainly white, transparent and a nice bright orange.
That was, what triggered a) the pernambuco as color for the purfling you have seen already and b) the design choice for the inlays into the rosette and into the headstock and backstrip... the agate slices were not huge, and we only had about 12 of them.
In my imagination this would have made for a very nice look.
Unfortunately however, it proved to be to tough to cut the inlay pieces from those slices.. all we yielded were shards ... Joel tried everything, but eventually we had to admit our defeat.
..a slice

The originals

....and no, I am not leaving you in suspension here...
So the agate was a defeat.
What else ? ... I had sort of a plan B and
was willing to use some nice contrasty and structured wood for the inlay pieces, ideally also with at least some orange to it. I discussed spalted wood, burly stuff, yew, alder.....
This would have been fine with me... but Joel wasn't willing to divert to this so easily... and here is, what he came up with (I was contributing the color combo, orange was a given, but, as this is self created,I imagined a popping blue could be giving a startling addition ,o)

What you see here are the mock-ups, but it gives a good idea I believe

It has a very similar pattern and structure, but the colours are even a step up to the original I think.
For me they fit wonderfully and somehow radiate good mood.
So in this case the 2nd option is even better than the original idea, and without the initial failure this wouldn‘t have happened.
Needless to say I‘m quite happy

Valentine pics!
The top is joined with the laminated sides.
Sides laminated with balsa wood ! .. and then the bracing here.. unlike anything I've seen...(doesn‘t say much ) Joel calls it his circular top bracing. Very cool to see the guts of your guitar like this.. about the only chance ever .. yet it deserves the attention..
..is supposed to provide the necessary stiffness and support the monopole... anticipation sure is rising !
..still needs to be finally voiced after the soundport is in.

Thanks for stopping by ! And have a great weekend !
