Well thanks Bill. It has been a fun ride so far! Glad to post these pics. I think the journey is such a great part of the commission experience.

Some scuffing and the next rounds of clear coat today.

Now we find out the special ingredient in Tim's clearcoat.

And the spraying begins. • Video 1Video 2

Then they call in the cleaning crew.

More to follow ….

Yowzah--it's looking better and better with each new coat along the way!

That burst is really coming to life--and the back and sides...schweeeeet!

After drying and between clear sprays, Tim lightly sands spots he feels need correction.

Then it's off to the spray booth again.

Looking great Tim, before my injury I had started to plan a custom build with one Sydney's better known Luthiers Jeff Mallia.
Jeff had already sourced the timber, figured sapele back and sides, very similar to the set used on this build.
All the best to Mary and yourself mate.
Will give you a call soon.

Hey there coldshot. Gonna miss our annual call at McJam. Sure hope your recovery is going well.

Sadly, today is the last we will see of this beauty for 3 weeks.

A little sanding and the final clear coats • Video

Guess I'll just go and play my MiniMac until the paint dries.

I know that waiting game. I just finished the wait on my builds and started buffing today. Your guitar is gorgeous! The burst is a perfect match for that nice quilting. Having a burst always makes that level sanding just a bit more nerve wracking. I'm jealous of your spray booth, Tim. I'm a slave to what nature is doing.

Dennis, what a fantastic build!! I know your going to have your socks blown off when it is finished. Congratulations to you and to Tim and Mary, as always, your level of love and friendship that goes into each relationship "guitar build/client" never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks Bill but the photography credit goes mostly to Mary and also to Dennis for sharing and posting his pictures.

Good to hear from you Craig. We will certainly be anticipating a call from you whenever you have a chance.

Thanks for the kind words Ken and you are right. It always makes me pucker when sanding the clear coat on top of a burst. I've had to start over more times than I care to remember.

Thanks for your comments Ken. I am trying to be patient but having seen this guitar in the making it is tough. Tim knows I want him to take all the time he deems necessary for the best outcome. Two weeks 'til buffing.

I hope your builds turn out fantastic!

Hello there Treenewt! Excited is right! Edge of my seat right now. Yesterday I spent some time going through the thread again. It's almost like being there. Thanks for your comments and following along.

Hello Dennis! So glad you could stop by. I appreciate your kind words. Tim and Mary are such nice folks. The plan was for me to pick-up this guitar at their McJam in June which has been postponed due to the pandemic. I'm really looking forward to visiting with them when it is over.

BTW, the 000 Tunnel 13 / Bastogne Walnut (#1 of 13) sounds as awesome as ever. I've seen 35+ guitars come and go but she is still with me. Speaks volumes!

Tim, wow! You have a great memory! You are correct, and sitting in the booth chatting with you and Mary while playing a few of your instruments was the highlight of that show for me! We have since moved to Oklahoma, so the IBMA hasn't been on my radar for a bit. We are doing well in this crazy season, and I'm glad to see you all seem to be, too!

Oh! My son STILL wears the sunglasses you gave us!
