Default JBL EON ONE Compact Blues & Happy Resolution To Initially Perceived Problem!

REVISION! Thanks, Aaron, your instructions worked! And thanks to other users who also suggested the same button-pushin' cowboy procedure!

When powering On or Off the JBL EON ONE Compact, here's the procedure:

Press and Hold the Power Button For 6-seconds to power the system ON

Press and Hold the Power Button for 3-seconds to power the system OFF

Do the above, which isn't indicated in JBL's instructions (but soon will be ) and you'll likely be happy with this system!

Please disregard the originally posted comment below which I'm leaving in the comment because others may have the same problem I did:

I picked up my JBL EON ONE Compact from a local FedEx Office Print & Ship Center while on the way home from Connecticut from a family gathering. I unboxed the system and was impressed by its features and fairly lightweight. I plugged it in and the green power button lit up but went out but the system's front power light stayed on. I noticed the battery was also charging and I plugged in both my portable CD player to play Skaggs & Rice, and my Yamaha LL-TA TransAcoustic. I adjusted the various knobs and heard a really good amplification of the CD's music and also of my Yamaha LL-TA's guitar tone. No problems with the tone and volume of JBL system's amplification process! The problem was that I couldn't power-off the speaker as the Power Button didn't do anything. Also, unplugging the JBL just switched the unit to its battery-power mode which of course with a defective Power Button couldn't be switched off either. I left the system, as is, overnight, and looking at it this morning reveals that everything is now off and can't be turned back on!

I'm going to peruse the JBL website for any Troubleshooting information that may be available but at this time, it looks like I'll ship the JBL EON ONE Compact back to Sweetwater for a refund or exchange but I'm not sure I want another JBL Compact as this first one isn't inspiring any confidence in the initial units being sold.

Anyone else having the same power issue or issues of any kind with their new JBL EON ONE Compact?

Default UPDATE!

Okay, so I removed the battery and put it back in the JBL EON ONE Compact and the system is working again. The problem is that the Power Button now stays Green and pushing it keeps it Green indicating that the unit can't be shut off by the Power Button. Am I misunderstanding something in the Quick Start Guide or the online Owner's Manual? Do any other JBL EON ONE Compact owners have the same problem with their unit's Power Button? Thanks.

I am sorry Ken,

Seems you have a faulty power button.

It's unbelievable this unit passed the Quality Check...

Yes, it's likely a faulty Power Button but other than the inconvenience of shipping it back to Sweetwater (their cost because of being a defective unit) it gave me a chance to try the JBL Compact. If I exchange it for another, and even though that unit may work properly, my concern is that it may start acting erratically after a while. Frankly, although I like its features, I may wait a while to buy another JBL Compact in several months even at its full price.

I am not an owner yet but I think I have seen somewhere in a video that you need to press the power button for more than 3 seconds... it seems too easy but just a try.

The power button is strange and takes pressing and holding to a new level. I sometimes have to fiddle with mine a bit but it always turns on and off.

It's on AeroUSA's unboxing video. He actually failed to turn it on the first time. He says that you need to long press.

He fails powering it on at 8:00

He suceeds at 9:24 and explain the "long press" thing

The power button is a little finicky at first as it doesn’t work as I expected (they should add this to the manual). The good side of it not being a physical switch it that you will not turn it off by accident.

On mine a long press for 6 seconds turns it on fully and a long press for 3 seconds turns it off. There is no short press.

That actually could be a benefit compared to the S1 where it's easy to hit the switch and drain your charged battery.

Please try the long press and let us know if it's actually faulty or newbie user error. Glad I read about the long press here before trying it at home. :-)))

I had this same issue upon my first attempt to turn the unit on, holding down the power button until the lights come on was the fix.

I checked mine. Long press for 6 seconds to turn it on and long press for 3 seconds to turn it off works. Glad someone posted that!

Hallelujah! I'm Saved! Thanks, Aaron, your instructions worked! And thanks to other users who also suggested the same button-pushin' cowboy procedure!
