Default Pledge on guitars?

Just saw Gov’t Mule (with ZZ top and Willie-awesome fest!) and noticed Wayne Hayes’ tech wiping all his guitars down with lemon Pledge! I realize his needs and concerns are vastly different from most of ours, but I consider silicone based products a big no-no for guitars? Build-up over time, and can never stick any repairs on top of silicone. Any thoughts or opinions? Im often surprised at the products some folks use successfully on guitars.

So am I - but they call it "relicing" or "mojo":

Silicone based stuff - nono.
I use Regency Gold Antique wood polish/restorer.

Great stuff and 500ml lasts for about fine years (depending on how many guitars you have!)

Soft damp cloth followed by dry soft cloth is all you need.

Agree. If theres build up, rarely Ill use Virtuoso or StewMac polish. But I try to avoid things that leave anything, or take anything away.

Exactly. I was about to post "water." People make the simplest things so hard.

That surprises me but I'm sure it's been used by other artists over the decades. Hopefully the tech knows what he's doing in regards to wiping down guitars but it's possible he's using what's close at hand.

Surprisingly common that some will spend a lot on a guitar then cheap out on polish (or a setup, strings, picks, straps, etc.). False economy IMO.

Believe it or not I’ve known people who use Pledge on their cars. One person, in particular, on her black vehicle. I don’t need to say more… do I?

And I've used Turtle Wax on my guitars. I got the idea because before there was Taylor guitar polish Bob Taylor recommended Turtle Wax spray wax for his guitars.

For what it's worth I've been using Lizard Spit guitar polish in recent years. It removes smudges and leaves a nice shine without building up. They make other polishes so FYI I'm using the pink stuff.
