I wouldn't want anyone I could think of signing my Bourgeois. But If I were at a festival and had my Sigma with me and Peter Rowan or Bryan Sutton were signing autographs I'd probably shrug and say, sure, what the heck. But, as a general practice, the answer is no.

Really can't answer.
Someone sign any of my current guitars? - No. Pete Townshend sign a Gibson Pete Townshend signature SJ-200 if I owned one? - Yes. Steve Howe sign a Martin Steve Howe signature 00-18 if I owned one? - Yes.

Funny how this question provokes such strong responses, pretty surprising. Myself? Yeah, if it were one of the many musicians who have influenced me over the years. Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Gary Rossington, Dickie Betts, Keith Richards, Alex Lifeson (or Geddy), the list goes on and on, but absolutely if one of my guitar influences offered to sign any one of my guitars, heck yeah!
I’m not a “collector”, I don’t, and never have, bought a guitar because I felt it would be more valuable years down the road, or to flip for a profit, I buy guitars that I plan to play until I’m gone. My wife or my kids can deal with whatever “decreased value” my autographed guitar might have after I’m gone, cause that’s the only time anything I own right now will leave my possession.* *this is all theoretical, as I do not own a guitar with anything other than a manufacturer logo on it, but I would if the situation presented itself. |

You left out the “Not no, but hell no!” Option so I just picked “nope”.

Like others have said ...it depends. First of all it would have to be an exceptional musician to sign my guitar. I wouldn't ask or allow just anybody to sign one of them. So my exception to this would be Paul McCartney, Chris de Burgh or Gordon Lightfoot.

If I was to do something like that I would have a guitar that only did that and it would be a guitar that I only showed to people and did not actually play. Probably an all laminate.

My John How Ladder Braced concert is signed on the label by John. I'm more than OK with that.
My Goodsell amps are signed by Richard on the back of the speaker baffle and that makes me happy. Other than that,.. it would have to be Dylan, or Willie,.. maybe Bill Frisell. |

I voted Nope! Except it was ok for Chris Martin to sign my D35 Custom shop...inside the sound port by the label.

None of my guitars are signed but I've never met anyone that I would want to sign my guitar when I had my guitar with me. If I met a guitar hero and I had a guitar with me then perhaps yes.

I said no, of course. But I recall a fellow member over at LTG reported on Kris Kristofferson "sitting in" on one of his gigs, and he got Kristofferson to sign his Guild F50R. It was a very readable, non-flamboyant signature. I certainly wouldn't say no to that one!
I wish I had a better pic of that guitar, but all I could find is this video of Steve ("Retro Rocker") playing the "Kristofferson" and channeling Johnny Cash at a party....

There are people I'd let sign my acoustic guitars, although not on the top.
