I've got one worse, people who name their pets after their preferred brand of instrument.

Well that would be something
Come Jane, good guitar, now play a G minor chord and keep the groove steady.

I refer to my les paul as "Gibby", my Dean as "Dean", and my Bruno Ventura as "Bruno"...

So would that be considered naming them or just calling them by their name?

I haven't named my guitars yet but after reading the responses here I'm determined to.

Call it what you like, but the only thing that gives life to it is the player.

The only guitar I've named is my Takemine. It's black with a white binding and a white stripe down the back (the Springsteen/Bon Jovi guitar) so my girlfriend at the time started calling it Pepe Le Pew. I wasn't too fond of that, so I one-upped her with Baxter. She never really got it, but it stuck.

I named a Strat once following a discussion exactly like this one. Otherwise, no.

Correct. In the guitar world the songs would be the equivalent of paintings and the brushes the guitars.

I disagree - I believe there is a joint bond in the mix. I know I can play magic on some guitars moreso than others.

Name them?... sure, if you want to.

No, I am an adult and don't have imaginary friends or girlfriends. I do not have personal relationships with inanimate objects.
