Interesting as most would put a satin finish as a "cheaper" guitar thing.

Ummm. No. A satin, natural or open pore finish allows the guitar to breathe as opposed to a smothering laquer gloss.

Save up, look for a used if need be, and get a Martin 00015m. You will never regret it, never.

Two very different guitars, but both sound very, very nice. I slightly prefer the Ibanez, but maybe that is because its tone is closer to spruce, which I am used to. If I wanted something different, I'd go for the Breedlove.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Breedlove was tuned to drop D? If so, the comparison isn't quite fair.

Yes it does have a hint of a spruce tonal signature. I really am not looking for that but if I am able to get both to compare I will. If I could mash them together I would love the body style and neck inlay of the Ibanez with the tone of the Breedlove... in a satin finish.

Despite the Breedlove sounding so good without anyone even touching it, while the Ibanez need fingers on the fretboard and plucking the strings at the same time, I liked the sound of the Ibanez better. After seeing the votes 2 to 1 in Breedlove's favour, I went back and listened again, thinking maybe I missed something. Ibanez was still better sounding to me.

I expected to be voting for the Breedlove but based solely on the two videos supplied, had to go with the Ibanez for tonality. There was something I didn't care for on the lower notes, but all in all, it was my choice.

Would I still choose it if the same players did the same songs on both, or if I played them both, I don't know.

For looks, I liked the beautiful wood on the Ibanez, and I loved the pure simplistic elegance of the Breedlove, so there's my take.

I just realized Ibanez did not even bother putting a tuner into the electronics. That super annoying fact has pushed them possibly out of this comparison.

The Breedlove would be a no brainer for me. They do the imports right. You won't be disappointed.

Why not just buy another AC240 and keep it in regular tuning? They are amazingly consistent. Just a thought.........

I had to buy 3 different AC240s before I got the one that I have now. The first 2 had problems. I love the one I have now... but still. I like diversity in my collection.

Gotcha. I believe you, but i am a bit surprised, as the ones I have played have been very consistent and sounded great. Of course, playing one for 5 minutes at a GC and spending REAL playing time with them is two different things.

Of your first two clips, both sounded really good. I slightly preferred the drier woodiness of the Ibanez but would probably be happy with either in the tone dept. Personally, I don't play dreads though and prefer 1.75" nuts.

I have seen that particular Breedlove as the SDOTD on MF for $299 in the recent past.

Have you ever considered the Ibanez AW54? Great tone on the ones I have picked up.

I just ordered both of them. First hand comparison will be best.

With all of the options for tuning an instrument why does it bother you so? Genuinely curious. For that kind of money I would buy the guitar that sounded the best.

It doesn't really and I will just buy the one that sounds better but in this day and age, to build an acoustic-electric without a tuner borders on stupid. Just my opinion.
