Steve Andersen Guitars----any news?
Just realized I haven't seen anything by or about Steve Andersen and his fabled archtops for a long time. Anybody know anything about him now? He may well have retired; can't find anything on the Web and he used to have a website.

He retired maybe a couple years ago. His archtops are superb instruments.

Thanks very much for the info. With so many dropping like flies these days, it is a relief to hear that he has merely retired.
Lovely guitar, btw. He made an oval soundhole, sort of a hybrid it seemed, that I had some interest in a few years ago, but it was way north of taking a flying leap into the unknown, and, of course, there were none around to try out. I'm not really an archtop guy, but his intrigued me and if I were to take the plunge, it would quite likely have been with one of his. Beautiful instruments from his Metropolitan right down to the Artist series (I think it was called). Always gorgeous workmanship. |
