Default Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Nice old Rick. I have one just like it. Belonged to my Dad who acquired it in the 1940s. Always loved the tone.

It was! A little blues, a Dolly Parton number from the Trio album ("Wildflowers"), a Christmas carol, and some experimentation.

That's a 1940 Rickenbacher Model B lap steel. The "B" is for "Bakelite", the plastic that the body is made from, also used in bowling balls. The prewar and wartime Ricks are kind of desirable for their unique, powerful sound.

Bob, great great for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I was also going to ask what the guitar was.

Hey Bob. You might find this fun starting at around the 2:25 mark.

I am fascinated with her appliance! By the way, that is her second Rick. The first one was a 1939-40 model that had the original, more slim neck. She was riding in a cab and the cabbie hit the brakes. The guitar slid off the seat and the neck was broken at the heel. She immediately bought a '50s one with the thicker neck spars. My 1940-ish one has the thicker neck but has the older, hotter pickup:
