FYI, as I learned on my Godin-produced Art & Lutherie, Godin's 1.72 nut is equal to 1 23/32, which is 1/16 shy of 1 3/4 and looks to my tape measure like 1 11/16. He's likely looking for something with Godin's 1.8 nut (1 13/16, which looks like 1 3/4 to my tape).

You're absolutely right, Chris. I've tried that Godin and find the nut too narrow.

Anyone tried this Eastman? The specs seem perfect. Normally, I'm allergic to Chinese guitars, but I hear good things.

Here you go. 24.75 scale length and a 1.75 nut width. I have this same model (although standard nut width) and it's exceptional. Decent price too. Got to love the compound radius neck, graphite nut and saddles, beautifully finished top (picture does not do it justice) and ebony fretboard. Good luck.

Here's their option list: http://www.glguitars.com/instruments...ons/guitar.asp

You can buy off the rack, but that probably won't meet your needs. In your place, I'd locate a volume G&L dealer (I've used Upfront Guitars in Massachusetts, but there are several bigs ones) and ask him for a quote for what you want, and I'd start with body style (they have all the usual, plus unique), number and types of pickups, controls, neck shape, radius, fretboard materials, etc., make sure they can do the scale (per "him" of AGF, at least one model does, so they should be able to do it for others: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=242046 )

For a custom configuration, they're very reasonably priced, and turnaround is a matter of a few weeks. At some point I'll have them build me a semi-hollow Bluesboy with a 1.75 neck, but that's a ways down the road. They're great electric guitars, imo, and worth looking into for what you've said are your needs. A lot great info here: http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/ that's the (apparently sponsored) forum for discussion, questions, etc.
George and Leo "left Fender in the 80's"?

I've never heard a bad word about Agile. They apparently offer amazingly low prices on completely custom configurations (Look at "Semi-Custom," not "Custom Select" (more limited)). http://www.rondomusic.com/customquote.html

Even an archtop - http://www.rondomusic.com/ascustomjan2016.html

Sorry for the confusion - should have been "started G&L in the 80s." Hope the post was otherwise useful.

I assume you want an electric guitar with a magnetic pickup and intend to play through an amp, preferably a tube amp. I love my ES175 through my Fender Deluxe Reverb. Mine is an ES175D with 2 humbuckers.

You might call Taylor or your local Taylor dealer and see if you can get a T5 built with the wider neck. I think (not sure) that they come 1-11/16" standard.

You got that exactly right. I'm using a tube amp, and I'd LOVE a Gibson ES-175, but that is way out of my $3K price range.

$3 k is about right for an ES175. You can also get a 175 clone from Eastman for about half that amount and they may come with 1.75" nut width. Def work checking out. Also Peerless.
