You have an amazing collection and setup, but why do you have multiples of the same guitar? Just curious.

I like to be spontaneous too but, as I said, 20 seconds isn't really going to quash any spontaneity (there's a joke in there somewhere but it likely can't be told here anyway). I have a wooden rack that holds 5 acoustics so "practicality" isn't really an issue either and no pre-planning required. I just pick a case, open it and I'm playing. As you said, whatever works but I like to keep my guitars cased, protected from dust (and damage threats) and well humidified. If not doing that works for someone else then go for it.

Beautiful cabinet but how is a big case sitting in my view "out of sight"? In fact, having it cased makes me want to open the case just to look at the guitar inside (like a prize of sorts) and when I do I usually get right to the playing part.

No offense, but imho I think cases are kind of ugly. I stash them away where I can’t see them.

I do too. My wife would kill me if I left all my cases out. I feel like it takes forever to get a guitar out, because I have to maneuver them out of my closet. Different things work for different people. We are all blessed to have multiple guitars.

Add me to the cases are ugly chorus. Mine usually stay in the attic until it's time for me to sell.

Cased. Earthquakes here too. To me it's not a hassle to get them out. Keeps them safe.

Beautiful showroom! The Gibby electric spread is gorgeous!

Btw, that has got to be the most leftie guitars in one place that I think I've ever seen!

A few years ago my daughter was playing the Nintendo wii when the controller slipped out of her hand and hit the side of a Harmony Sovereign hanging on the wall. Left a pretty good gouge. The guitar was pretty beat already so I didn't really care.
Currently I just have my Waterloo and a cheap recording king jumbo. The jumbo is my beater/backup and I leave it hanging on the wall. The humidity conditions in my house require the Waterloo to be kept in it's case.
I would rather leave it out for convenience sake but it's just not an option for me.

To those who leave them out hanging or on stands - what about fading from the UV in sunlight that gets in the house?

I keep my cases in a relatively cheap portable/camping wardrobe in my garage.

Similar to this one,

I let them answer, but I'll just say, if you look real close they are all different, even those Lesters.

Besides, no two guitars are the same. Even two identical guitars can feel and sound different.

My Martin JDP II has been left out on a stand in my living room since I got it in 2012 - look at it now!
It has darkened considerably .. but it is not in a position exposed to direct sunlight.

The guitars are positioned/hung on a wall that doesnt receive direct sunlight. Additionally, the valance looking things above the windows are actually roman shades that fold down to block out all sunlight on particularly bright days.

I doubt the case crowd is suddenly going to start buying hangers, I for one are not, and the hanger crowd isn't going to be convinced to case them so it's probably just an exchange of preferences at this point. And to each their own for sure!

At the stage of playing that I'm at, being able to noodle for 60 seconds really isn't going to make me a better player. The first year I was learning, that would have been very helpful, but now, focused, intentional practice of around an hour or more is what I always go for. The "spontaneous" factor isn't a plus in my world.

I don't consider my case a danger, I consider it a shell of protection.

Please tell me you don't find Birchtops cases ugly! They're gorgeous!

I agree with you, but they are still very similar. My goal is always to add a new body style, wood combo, or color. Maybe I just don't love electrics enough. Despite the reasons, it is an awesome collection, not to mention expensive.
