Default Taylor 214ce-n

After selling my 20+ yr old Alhambra 10C, I’d been looking at cross-overs for a while as the the typical Spanish neck is a challenge and I also play fingerstyle folk music. I finally found an 8-yr old used Taylor 214ce-n on Craigslist. I was not expecting much acoustically as the Youtube (unplugged) reviews sounded weak and bland. First, this is a beautiful guitar with the tightest grain spruce top I’ve ever seen. The neck is constructed/balanced perfectly, as one expects from a Taylor. I put some fresh strings, adjusted the truss rod (it has one) and it sounds really good. Definitely a sprucy flamenco sound with snappy trebles, but very pleasing projection. Plugged in sounds even better, of course. So, anyone hesitating on these, give them a try - maybe they have to open up for a few years.
