Bridge Placement Issue?
I just bought a new guitar and received it this past week. Yesterday I noticed that the bridge was a bit cockeyed. I thought, at first, it was my mind playing some kind of illusion!
However, I measured the distance from each side of the bridge to the end of the lower bout. Sure enough, the side of the bridge with the treble E string is about 1/16" farther away from the end of the lower bout compared to the side of the bridge with the bass E string. For those who know, should this be a concern to me? Appreciate any feedback. Last edited by strings4him; 08-26-2012 at 04:35 AM. |

If your intonation is OK and you can put up with the look there should not be any problem. I'm sure yours is not the first.

More important is that the bridge/saddle are lined up properly with the neck so that the E strings are equidistant to the edges of the fingerboard and that the saddle compensation is correct.

What part of the lower bout? I would suggest you measure the corner of the front of the bridge to the very edge of the 12th fret on either side and see what you get. Assuming the front edge of the bridge is straight or at least symmetrical.
My point being that it could be your lower bout is distorted and not the bridge. |
