Ego and your driving force to perform in public

Always a risky proposition discussing ego . Because the definition of Ego can be fairly ambiguous
It can simply be ---" the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity"

But is also defined as "a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance:"
The former is healthy the latter can be destructive

The OP title could be construed to be suggesting it is an overblown ego that is the "driving force " to perform in public. Which certainly can be a factor but is by no means automatically intrinsic.

Now the OP goes on to talk about ego leading to conflict in a band which is certainly possible BUT agin speculating about the motivations of others is always potentially erroneous
