Default Cat's In The Cradle (SOTW # 32)

This week I submit a song that has become very meaningful to me on a personal level. I've wanted to record it for a couple months, but it has taken a bit of time to work it up. Every time I play it, I have to head for the phone to chat with my girls, then my Dad.

As always, I'm grateful for any/ all suggestions for improvement.

I posted the tab for the intro in the YT description, but it went all jumbly - I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks for listening and commenting, Claytone.
I worked out a version lower down on the fretboard, but the song really needs to be capo'd up the neck to sound right.

Hey Steve that was a fine rendition of one of my favorite songs. The only input I can give is to just keep playing it and the coordination between your voice and guitar will become one.

On a personal note, I had a random game of frisbee with Harry Chapin on the beach at 85th st. on Miami Beach a week before he bought it on the LIE. He is one of the all time greats we lost way too soon.

Thanks for listening, Steve. That is an awesome anecdote - I understand he was an awesome guy, but I never met him personally.

Classic tune...And I agree that you just keep improving...some very nice fingerpicking during the first bit of the song, Also like the transition to strumming....thanks for sharing.

Hi CueZ,

Thanks much for listening. I'm never really happy when I hear my own voice, so I appreciate the comment.
