I just noticed ... you have a Dan Dubowski.
I have his build #61.

This is Dan displaying some of his work, build #61 can be seen standing upright.

Wow, you're the only other person i know of to have a DD. Thanks for posting that picture of him. He is a really nice guy. Is he still building? I heard that he had injured his hand.

yessir, every CFox i've ever seen/heard has been the same, and as you surmise, this 12-string is no exception. I should probably keep it.

I see in your signature that a CFox Winter NAMM was built by Dana. How did that come about. Did anyone else have their hand in building this 12 string for sale here? Wouldn't ask if I were not interested in this one. Price is above my range but still interested. Thanks.

Back in 2002 Dana had initiated a deal with Charles Fox that Pantheon would build a line of guitars that CFox designed. To kick this off, Dana & Cary Clements built two guitars to Charles' specifications, nearly exactly alike (one was a cutaway), and showed them at NAMM. They hand-carved the necks! I bought the non-cutaway straight from Pantheon, and then the production deal fell through, and they never built any more. So those two guitars are sort of unique. I have no idea where the cutaway went. The one i have is the best EIR/Sitka guitar i've ever played. It used to be my main instrument but has been replaced in that regard with an MDRJ/adiron Goodall. I keep the Dana/CFox out of nostalgia & also because it's actually a great guitar, given the limitations of EIR. This CFox 12-string is purely CFox, from his old Healdsburg shop.

Thanks for this bit of very interesting history. I was recently in Healdsburg and saw where his shop was. I was visiting there with some guitar friends and we did a little luthier tour, mostly luthiers who had moved on but people knew where their shops had been.

Hey, same here, you're the only other person I know that has one.
There was a CD done by Aussie guitarist David Ross MacDonald called 'Southern Crossing' which features a different guitar by different Aussie builders on each track that includes a Dan Dubowski.
Here's a shot of the back cover.

He did injure his hand and stopped building for awhile but I think he's back into it but mostly focused on mandolins.
I swapped a 1996 Taylor 422 Quilted Maple and a 1999 Taylor 355 for the DD. I couldn't bond with the 422 and the 355 needed a neck re-set.
I put La Bella Silk & Steel strings and brass bridge pins on a few months ago - really warmed up the tone.

p.s. I had some work done at Haworth Guitars in Shellharbor (not the DD) here in New South Wales a few months back and the store owner Phill Haworth did a marvelous job - he's quite a skilled luthier himself, we got to talking and he knows Dan really well. Dan is self-taught and would often ask Phill for building advice and tips.
