She's purty!!!
Looks like cascading brown hair down a mermaid's back! What was it George Gruhn said about guitar collecting always being erotic? |

I'm happy I jumped into the process... my Braz guitar may be stumpwood, but it sure looks, sounds, (and smells) like Braz to me.

Bruce, I'd love to see more photos of the mahogany/adi 000-C as the build progresses.

The 000 is at the same point as the 00, which is say the necks are carved and ready for the heel caps. I expect them to go into finish tomorrow. It's Sunday night and I am in for the count, so I'll get to some photos for you tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures of the 000 taken this morning, and +/- and hour before I am going to put sealer on her. Please bear in mind that this top is no-upcharge Adi, and I expect it to sound fabulous but it is not the fancy stuff.
This Mahogany is very well quartered, and the back has mild figure in it: Braziilan Head plate: Brazilian heel cap too: I left a trace of the volute carving because I think it looks cool: Another view of the volute: My standard all wood (as opposed to Martin's plastic) Schoenberg (a hair more conservative than "Sexauer") rosette: The binding is Imbuya which I imagine looks like an organic tortoise plastic. It certainly has a very fine and unusual grin structure, and is very hard. Smells awful, though. |

Wow, that is uber cool Bruce. Is this one being built for someone, or unclaimed?

I am making this for Eric Schoenberg to stock his store with, but if I sell it directly before I have a chance to deliver it, that is slightly to my advantage. To his advantage too, actually, as he would have to pay for it on delivery, should I end up doing so.
The recent "45" is one extreme of the Schoenberg spectrum and this 000 is the other more modest end. Sound and playability-wise they should be more similar than different! While demonstrating as well as possible the fundamental difference between Rosewood and Mahogany, of course. |

I got the porefiller on yesterday, and this morning I sealed that in and then a little bit ago I got the first coat of Oil Varnish on. Here's a shot of the Mahogany back that shows off it's modest figure. With no stain or color besides the porefiller, this Mahogany has a deeper than average inherent color, and is quite beautiful by my standards!

Maple with Camatillo binding
While waiting for the finish to dry I went and built another guitar! What's a fella gonna do? This one is a 13 fret 0.

really elegant
Bruce -
I really like the "less is more" aesthetic that you bring to your guitars. There's an understated elegance there that is really appealing. Bravo. |

I sometimes think I learned about understatement from shaping surfboards. That's another skill set where less is absolutely more.
