We're tracking its journey from Vancouver to Oklahoma. UPS said 11/11/10 delivery, but it arrived Louisville, KY, at 0218 and I'm thinking it will be hard to have gotten on a plane to OKC and then on to a truck for delivery today. Wouldn't surprise me if it showed up tomorrow instead. I'll post photos when it arrives.

For anyone wanting to check Paragon's website or the links to the photos, here they are: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=49895847957

Congratulations on the new Paragon and thanks for the link to Rob's gallery. I've ogled it many a time and came away feeling silly - and a little dirty - for doing so.

Thanks Chas... it's funny, but that's a rut I've been in since college days - picking that way, I mean. It's simple, it's just arpeggios, and I struggle to play any other Travis patterns.

But it works for me on a lot of John Denver's songs, and the sparseness of the picking goes well with the baritone. I've tried strumming it once or twice, and between the low notes and the overtones of that guitar it just muddies up. So the sparse picking pattern sounds good and keeps the notes separate.

A friend and I played a few hours together, and on songs where that simple picking worked, paired with either a strummed 12 string or 6 string, it really sounded good. Almost like a bass was hiding in the room with us!

Those .016-.070 strings really rumble!!

Thanks again,

Phil

Default neck profile

Hi Phil,

What size of neck profile does your baritone guitar have ?
Did you specify a neck profile to Rob ?

Best,

Ken

Hi Ken. I did not specify a profile, but I'd played three other Paragons and knew that Rob's standard was good for me. I did tell him I liked a "Taylor-like" neck, and do have smaller hands than many (golf glove cadet medium).

From that he produced a great feeling, easy to play neck. I'm actually surprised at how easily it plays, with those big fat D'Addario EXP23 baritone strings. There's a bit of a reach for a non-capo'd D chord walk down (!!) but really the neck he carved was great.

Hopefully that helps - Rob may remember anything special he did with that one.

Do you have a build going? I missed it if you do. Let us know the details!

Thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Unfortunately, I haven't play the Taylor guitar for enough time.
And I don't know the neck shape of Taylor guitar.
(Taylor guitar isn't as popular as Martin, Gibson and Collings in Japan.)

Does Taylor have slimmer or thinner neck profile the collings ?
I think that neck of collings is a little big for me.

About my paragon,
Rob haven't started building my guitar (in DEC. or next Feb.).

The Spec:
Top:Cuban Maho.
B/S:Cuban Maho.
Neck:Hon Maho or Cuban Maho.
Model:P-13C(Parlour with Cutaway, 13th-fret joint/long scaled neck)
Fingerboard:?
Bridge:?
Saddle:?
Binding:Zebrawood

Best,

Ken

My only hands on experience with Collings was with a nice OM1. If I remember correctly, it was slightly bigger than the Taylor neck. Yes, Taylor necks are quick slim.

I think if you tell Rob that he will be able to work up something that fits your hand.

Phil
