I don't use a radius board either. I clamp to the radiused braces and the top or back conforms to them. By gluing against a flat board, I would worry that it would work against the radius on the brace, possibly bending them flat or even cracking them?

They don't crack, but what they do is work against each either to give stiffness to the top. The top retains a radius when it is released. How do you glue your braces? Without a gobar deck?

Yep driveway markers are great for this. You can cut them down to length and they are in expensive. |

I would clamp my bracing in the beginning too. Actually even used an old weight set and balanced the weights just so…. It worked but I found after I built my go box that I made a huge difference.

This is always an exciting point in the build process. I like to spend time cleaning up and sanding before closing it up for good.

All looks great!
Building both a go bar deck to glue the top/back to hoop and then the purfling/edging jig are next on my list. ...so could you post some more pics of your edging jig tower, especially the base, and especially-specially where it rides along the top/sides on some sort of "donut", por favor (as in, what was your donut solution?). Also, did you stain your edging jig to match your bench? |

Side Strips
I tried a different gluing method for the side strips. I usually use some assortment of clamps. This time I used no clamps other than my fingers. I used minimal glue so it would tack up quick. I then rubbed with my fingers or a small hammer until it set. Tapping with the hammer also let me know if I had good contact by the sound. I used a heat gun to help the drying along. It was still tedious and maybe not any faster, but I can be sure any unevenness in the sides didn't leave any gaps.

Halfway point. Closing the box up typically means I am half done. I am right on schedule for this guitar to be for sale for spring.
