Stumbled across this the other day.
It's definitely worth a listen.

Nice!!
thank you. If this forum had a category for greatest player rarely mentioned on the AGF (follow that?), Pat would be my nominee.

Nice link...
I've listened to it a couple times. The one thing which sticks out big time, IMHO, is his leaving space.

I don't know if it's space so much as the understated nature of this performance and letting the beauty of the music speak for itself. Pat has chops galore but he knows not to throw the arsenal in when it's not needed!

Thank you so much for bringing this clip to our attention. I've been a huge Metheny fan since about 1978! I've seen him perform at least 30 times and been fortunate enough to meet him twice. He continues to improve and amaze year after year. I've always loved his solo guitar playing and this clip is a fantastic example of his classy, tasteful and melodic style. Great stuff. Thanks again...

and talk about humble....
I also have had the fortune of seeing him 20plus times. always amazing. Solo, with a trio or with his whole group. Great talent. I saw him about three years ago in Northampton, MA. After introducing and complimenting his entire group several times, they started to play another song. He sheepishly turns back towards the audience, steps back to the mic and says" Oh yeah, my name is Pat. " In case there was someone in the crowd who wasn't sure.

wonderful stuff...I've been a huge Metheny fan since the 1970s. Pat is one of those players who has created his own unique "voice"...just a few notes and you know it's him.

He is a master of so many different styles. I havent always cared for all of his CDs but am amazed when I have seem him live. Talk about incredible musicianship. "Tight" is only one term you can use to describe his band in concert. Patrick
