Default Martin 000-18(current model), give me some owner reviews please

I'm looking all over at different things, typically a Sitka/EIR player, but everything I've heard really appeals to me on this current 000-18 model.
Looks like a killer fingerstyle Martin, and it has my favorite neck(performer taper) and the specs are right on everywhere(shortscale-yea!).

Some of you owners, let me know how you like/dislike it.

Do you play dropped tunings, if so, how's it handle those.

I'm assuming it feels pretty light in the hand as well.

thank you

I don't own one but I've played one at the local store and I like everything about it. Sounds great, looks good, has all the right appointments -- and a friendly price tag, too.

I owned one, and loved it. It is light, airy, with a throaty roar to it. Resonant as well. It has the 1.75 nut width PA taper neck, which most like, except for me. If it had the neck of my D15 or HD-28, I might still have it.

I think it is an exceptional guitar.

The 000-18 is sitka/mahogany not sitka/EIR. My 2015 000-18 is very light-weight, extremely responsive. It has nice highs and a good low end. The short scale is great for bending strings. I don't normally play in dropped tunings. It both fingerpicks and strums well. I really like the modern performance neck. The only other guitar I have that is just as responsive but has more bottom end is a 2014 D-18. They cost the same and are the best bang for buck in the Martin line, IMHO.

I may add...have had mine for two years now...what I find peculiar about this body size and combination of mahogany and spruce is the comfort, light (4lbs) and the way it compresses the sound as you strum it hard with a pick...The chords don't break down. My ears have learned to distinguish the Martin sound...It is the one I grab for that personal one on one me time....

The 000-18 is fantastic! Warm, earthy and mature sounding.

Darn near perfect- but for me the 00-18 is perfect - just a bit more mid range snap.

I think the new Martin 18 line - from 0 to D - is hard to beat

Have fun

madhat.

Here's a quick review of one I played a while ago (along with several others):

The 000-18 and the D-18 are among the finest guitars I've played at any price in the last few years. I'm hoping to own one or both before too long.

I used to own a 000-18. A great guitar, great construction, well balanced tone. Especially for fingerpicking

A very, very good guitar Daryl. I couldn't fault it, Martin did a great job.

1/4" scalloped bracing, MLO fast tapered neck, light as a feather, solid all over, very affordable and sounds fantastic. What more can one ask for. I just love mine.

Hopefully one day soon, a long scale version will come out.

I own a 000-18 with a VTS adirondack top and it is fantastic. The only Martin currently in my stable and I'm keeping it!
