Default Which Eastman Blows your Mind?

GAS is back again, income tax return is in....I want one Rosewood guitar, all the rest are Mahogany.

So Eastman lovers, which direction shall I cast my gaze?

The 20 series seems pretty nice. But I am an Eastman newb.

Entice me! What Eastman floats your boat?

I love both my E8OM (rosewood) and E6OM (hog), but the nod so far goes to the E8...

I don't know just know that I am happier since buying one exceptional guitar and selling off others.

You might look at this one here... I have no connection to the seller:

Which body style are you interested in? It seems from your guitars that you prefer large or mid-sized bodies. Is this the area you are looking for or are you interested in venturing into smaller (OM, Grand Concert) sizes?

I don't know what the specific model was, but I once played an Eastman dread with an Adirondack top that was wonderful.

In complete contradiction to the laws of preferred spruce tops...the best sounding Eastman I've played was an E8D (Sitka over solid Rosewood). It was louder, sweeter and more articulate than the model E20D (Adi/RW) that the same store had in. Now, whether I'd make the same choice in several years, after the Adi model had broken in properly, who knows. But it proved to me once again that you have to play the actual guitar you want to buy, not just rely on reviews or specs. (I wasn't in the market for a dread, so I didn't buy that E8D, but I did notice that it had been sold when I went back a week or so later. Guitars that nice apparently don't last long.)

Thanks all. I am overwhelmed with the choices.

a. why Eastman? I played one and loved the tone, i think it was the 10 series.
b. i wanted something other than Taylor or Martin, something different. Around these parts Eastman is the only option along with Breedlove, unless we jump up to Collings, etc....Recording King is avail,, i dont know their builds
c. i want a rosewood because of the tonal characteristics, deep, moody, softer than hog
d. limited budget, want to stay around 1100ish, dont want to part with any of my guitars to trade up and 2K is a bit dear, or might it be worthwhile to save and buy another higher end?

e. the one for sale in the buyer forum is in USA, i dont think he can ship up here without my paying a nasty tarif across the border

I will go to the 12th Fret tommorw and have an Eastman day.

I've played several Eastmans and think they are fine guitars. Even though this one is probably not at all what you want, I was blown away by their little parlors... both the E10P and E20P. I was used to parlors sounding like little shoe boxes and both of those guitars were a blast to play. I didn't know a parlor at that price could sound so good. I'm sure you want a bigger body, but for whatever that's worth...

Have a fun Eastman day!

The Eastmans that really impressed me were mahogany OMs. That's not to say their rosewood guitars aren't good, but their nicely appointed mahogany OMs are a real sonic treat -- loud and lively, not subtle at all...

I have a AC722ce, currently tuned to DADGAD, and the guitar is phenomenal (also in standard). It really excels at fingerstyle, but it's also a great strummer. It kinda depends on what your playing style is, play a couple and tell us what you think. I've heard a lot of great things bout the E series too, love my parlor, but that is the hog route

I've liked all I've played quite a lot, probably more-so than any sampling of another maker's guitars in some given store.

I have an ar803 archtop which I love playing, use for gigs, and am just completely happy with. I'm not sure it blows my mind but it's **** close.

Maybe it's worth mentioning that I don't keep some stable of guitars around, just the ones I gig with. 1 archtop, and 2 acoustics.

My E20OM & my AC-720 are both just amazing guitars, blows my mind every time I play them because it's hard to believe they are both in the 1G range.
