Default Sharing pics of new Archtop, please share YOURS!!

Just sharing some pics of a guitar made for me by Stephen Holst, Luthier. Love this guitar, very unique sound with carved Euro Spruce, and ( non carved) EI Rosewood back and sides. We eventually called it "Holst Parlor Archtop" I was after that turn-of-the-century sound of those old Gibson vintage small body archtops with flat backs, and I think we nailed it.....please enjoy, and I would like to see the pics of your custom Archtops too.....

I love 16" oval hole archtops.

Howard, I do too......mine is a 15" lower bout, hence the "parlor" association...

Though they LOOK different, these are true carved archtops.
The Black one is mine and the candy apple one is it's twin.

Forgive my ignorance, and having played for 25+ years, what do you typically play using these most beautiful arch tops?

Cheers!

Mine are set up to have the tone roll off from smooooooooth jazz to growly rock-a-billy. Very versatile instruments.

Easy answer: All & Everything!

a lot of people might have preconceived notions about what kind of music you play on an archtop, they may want to limit it to some certain genres or styles, nonsense. However, you don't play them with the same attack as you play a flattop, and that's a second misconception I see (and am even often guilty of), in my experience an archtop is much more difficult to play and get good sound from, but what you are hitting them right, they are downright 3-D sounding or even cello like.

Blue-Wily-Fox,

I was following that build (carved archtop parlor with rosewood flat back) on Steve's website...I think he started that guitar shortly after I received my Holst K200 about 2 years ago. Gorgeous guitar and I exchanged many e-mails with Steve about that guitar...it gave me serious GAS.

I was one of the first to order the K200 with laminated top. I've really enjoyed my Holst and he's a great guy to work with. My K200 has a 16" lower bout, custom Kent Armstrong PAF style humbucker and my 2 daughters' names inscribed in abalone at the 12th fret (done by the great Bill Nichols aka CaptBill).

Here's a photo of my K200:
