Uh Oh... bandwidth issues during the lockdown
So, I'm teaching virtually and I use Cisco WebEx to teach through my school. Well, just a little while ago it was down, so I had to cancel class.
I was wondering if this would eventually be a problem with people streaming meetings and even streaming through NetFlix and such. It looks like it could be a problem...

Read yesterday that Netflix went down for a while, and now streaming media suppliers are going to slightly reduce the bandwidth of their streams (meaning you won't quite get UHD or HD).

We noticed people having trouble connecting to Zoom meetings via the phone. We thought perhaps it was due to an overuse of Zoom. Perhaps the same is true with WebEx and they're having trouble with the load. Lots more video conferencing going on these past two weeks.

Some of my friends in rural UK are reporting this and trouble getting on facebook, I'm in urban NYC and haven't noticed any issues with cable, and some issues with seeing streaming concerts - similar to those I had before on skype. It's conceivable there might eventually be some higher pricing for me to keep the current level of performance on the horizon.
