Who else makes cedar topped guitars?
In case I can't locate a yellow Furch GA, what else is out there? ($1,500 - $2,200). All solid, cutaway, 1.75" nut.

Lowden does as well but above the budget I'd guess? Eastman E2 is a Cedar/Sapele satin finish and way under budget. All solid. 1.75" nut but...no cutaway? The Godin Metropolis comes with a cedar top over mahogany but a 1.72" nut and in dread form...no cutaway?

Barry -- While I'm not a huge Taylor fan, a used X-braced 514 comes to mind, assuming the individual guitar meets your expectations. It's a bit bright in the trebles, but a versatile guitar.
Probably hard to find on your budget, but a used Lowden S -- maybe cedar/rosewood -- might be something that would suit your style. It's a smaller Lowden, but my wife has one, and it's really got the soulful Celtic thing going on. Have a feeling you might like it. |

The Eastman AC122-2CE has a cutaway and the same tonewoods and nut width

Takamine has some great cedar top models. They have the NEX body that’s a GA. I’m not sure about the nut widths.

If you checks for Taylor 514 and 512 there are a few X braced still out there on reverb.
I know for a fact you’ll get them down to your price range over the phone, I already called and asked a month ago and they would! |

Maton make cedar top guitars. I have an SRS808C that's blackwood back and sides with a cedar top (western red). Lovely sounding guitar but my all ovangkol Martin D-16 blows it out of the water in terms of tone.

In general, American makers don't seem keen on cedar (it can be hard to find an American cedar top), while the Europeans love it, almost to the point where it can be hard to find anything else. Practically any European maker will have cedar tops. The Takamine suggestion made above is a good one. Good range, well made, sensibly priced. Or Furch, of course, if you can find one.

Hey Barry - why are you only looking new? Is it to save potential hassle dealing with an individual sale?
