Default NGD for AGF member yngwie51 - Edmonds D-18 Adirondack w/Large Soundhole

Took a little drive up to Galax, VA again today to pick up Jim (yngwie51)'s new D18 from Jimmy Edmonds. And once again, Jimmy knocked it out of the park. Jim went with a large soundhole (not "full Tony", but more of a "half Tony" ), flamed maple neck, slotted headstock w/ivoroid Waverly tuners, torch headstock inlay, a custom 12th fret inlay embedded with his daughters' initials, and a sunburst similar to mine. He went a little slimmer on the neck, with a 1 23/32" nut and 2 3/16" saddle spacing - Jim has been an electric player since dinosaurs roamed the earth, so he tends to prefer a bit slimmer profile.

The large sound hole slightly shifts the EQ from bass to mids, and Jimmy made some modifications to the bracing to compensate for this. The result is yet another very open sounding guitar, albeit one that's only been strung for about a day.

I didn't think it was possible for mine to sound any better, but that D18 has opened up considerably in the last month, and I think this one will be just as good, if not better.

Here's a quick demo video of Jimmy playing (my mic bugged out for a few seconds around the 40 second mark). One thing's for sure...Jimmy's work is consistently excellent.

And some photos:

Congrats on a great guitar...and great experience! You’re right about Jimmy and Matt. And you inspired me. I told Jimmy today I want my grandkids initials on the 12th fret of mine.

That's awesome! The inlay work on this guitar was very nicely done...like artwork.

I forgot to mention that Jim's guitar is strung with light gauge strings. I didn't even realize that until I checked with my digital caliper...but holy cow, that thing is LOUD.
