Default String Gauge for 3/4 Acoustic (Orangewood Dana)

got a $125 Orangewood Dana guitar for a bedroom/couch/travel guitar. Obviously not the same standard as my Taylor 415, but seems like a good guitar for the $ from what i can tell.

I mostly strum. I pick around a little, but nothing close to 'lead'. no bending, etc. i was thinking about putting some phosphorus heavier gauged strings than the medium/light 80/20 Ernie's that come on it to try to make it a bit deeper & louder.

I've never had a 3/4 guitar though...any issue with getting a heavier gauged string on there? i'd keep it at 1/2 step down, which seems like it would help anyway.

thanks!
