You should get it up there easily even with medium's You have to get up to a C,C#or even D to break it. The guitar should be okay if it's one string tuned up. That said I'd recommend custom or extra light.

Default Tuning low E up to G.. Any risk to guitar

I have had one neck reset. I am too cheap to risk another.
Would this work on a guitar?

Or do they make one for a guitar?

Or buy a cheap quick grip capo and saw off 5/6 of the top so it would only clamp on the e string
