My family and I visited Cardiff the last time we were in the UK, and had a great time. There was the eye-popping 19th Century restoration of Cardiff Castle, and the pub where we ate our dinner had Brains beers on tap, including the best glass of mild ale I've ever had.

I know, it sounds like a beer that zombies would like, right?

Not to worry, though - the pub we went to had a strict "No Zombies Allowed" policy.

My brothers, my father and I visited Wales while we were in the U.K. We stopped at Hawarden to see my uncle's grave. He was my dad's older brother and an RCAF Spitfire pilot in WWII. I'm on the right. All the brothers have lost weight since.

Then we toured Wales. One of the spots that stuck out to me was Tintern abbey. Very, very pretty ruins.

Do they still have the bumper stickers that say:

"Keep Wales Clean, Dump Your Garbage In England"?

Hey, Wade, hope you got to try the wonder that is Brain's SA, or Skull Attack, as it's locally known. And Cardiff has also now got a bar run by Tiny Rebel, a very good local micro-brewery, which puts on small gigs: I actually saw Molly Tuttle and Rachel Baiman there a couple of years ago.

The current isolation practices in Wales have brought the mountain goats down into the town of Llandudno to see where all the people have gone.

My dream vacation is to go to Wales and tour the castles. Love Edward I-era Welsh history. Sharon Kay Penman wrote some good historical fiction about that time period.
