Dont buy it based on it looks, yes its a beauty, but youve got to understand it doesnt have a modern sound. Its a small guitar so it has a small sound. Yes I know its got a deep body.

Hi Ed,

Short scale can go an any model you like.

Ours is a 16-21" compound radius.

The frets are medium. I think they are pretty much standard height, just a little wider. If you need exact specs, let me know and I'll crack out the calipers...

It may be a small guitar, but it has a sound WAY bigger than I would have ever guessed.

I just got a chance to play one myself for the first time yesterday at a local dealer. A NL-00 in Lutz over Rosewood. WOW ! Had I not been set on an even smaller body, I would have taken it home with me. That big lower bout makes for some serious low-end. Needless to say, I placed an order with the dealer for a Halcyon of my own. Playing that beauty was the final push I needed.

And it wasn't just neophyte-me that was impressed. I hung out to watch / listen to at least 3 other players sample it, and all were smiling when done with it. What everyone here has been saying is the straight truth (IMHO) : an insanely good quality instrument for a bargain of a price.

So, now I join the ranks of the impatient............ LOL !

Those side marker inlays are very cool. Is that optional or standard?

I'm assuming standard because there was never any discussion about inlays. I chose the binding and fretboard/bridge material for an up charge. The little stuff was all Ed.

I've never seen a close up of those side marker inlays. They're unique, yet subtle. Very cool!

I don't know if you've played one, but the way you describe the sound is just wrong. No it's not a Dread, but the tone/sound is anything but small. It has a very bass foreword sound profile with none of the boxyness that tends to be associated with smaller guitars.
