Default Signature line … huh?

Once in a while I read a post that sings the praises of one of the writer’s guitars, and when I get to the signature line there’s no mention of that guitar. It’s a small thing, and I guess folks have better things to do than keep their guitar lists current. But it’s always a little … huh?

I always keep mine current. But then I only have two guitars at a time so it’s no biggie.

Mine is current and it's out of control. On a side note I do a lot of searches on the forum and see people gushing about one of their guitars and notice they no longer have them. I'm guilty of that sometimes.

I don't think there are enough characters in the signature for my list.

I change guitars too much, so I don't bother listing them in my signature anymore.

I have way too many guitars, mandolins, mountain dulcimers and banjos to list them in my signature. For me, it simply isn’t practical.

The nice thing about keeping them in your signature, Wade, is you only have to type the list once!

Ditto (with enough characters to fulfill the ten character minimum).

No need to list 'em at all. It's fine for folks to mention whichever guitars they like. Some people turn 'em around faster than they can keep track.

And I'll bet a few people just put in their fantasy list. If you can't afford a '33 D-45 and a '32 D'Angelico, at least you can put 'em in your signature.

There are folks who have a reluctance to post what they have, as well as where they are from. I don't know if they think they will be tracked down and burgled, or they aren't comfortable with how many they have, or just don't bother. I find they give a snapshot as to where a poster is coming from. If one has a dozen Martins, you have to take a negative Taylor post with a grain of salt.

Point well taken.

It could well be that someone just got a new guitar, is gushing about how great it is (the honeymoon period), but hasn't remembered to first change his signature.

OMG now there's signature line shaming. Some things I'd rather just keep to myself. Thanks for your understanding.

Yeah... listing the guitars I own is just not something I choose to do. If someone else wants to do it I'm fine with that. I can see where they might find that enjoyable. But honestly, I never read the list.
