Default Pine sap on CF guitar body

Welp, my campfire days caught up to me last evening. I got a big dollop of pine sap on my Blackbird Rider.

What should I use to get it off there? I suspect organic solvents would not play well with the finish...

Rubbing alcohol removes pine sap/rosin. Naptha (lighter fluid, white gas, Coleman fuel) is frequently used to remove gunk on wood guitars. As always, test any substance on an inconspicuous area first.

Good advice from Mandobart! Then again, OP, you know it's illegal to use pine tar on your CF guitar when using it as a bat when playing baseball whether professionally or otherwise ...

Thanks!

Good point SpruceTop! Fortunately my baseball days are behind me. I only use my CF guitars as canoe paddles now.

I'd call Blackbird, just to be safe.

The pre-ekoa Blackbirds like the Rider, Lucky 13, and Super OM were carbon fiber with automotive clear coat as a durable finish. Using naphtha or similar solvents should be fine, but checking with Blackbird is a good idea.
