nmi value
If the top is solid vs. laminate, that will help the value considerably. Even if its laminate, assuming its in good condition and plays well, and has good tone, I think it should be worth at least $200.00, perhaps more. But I'm no expert, just my opinion.

model 613?
Thanks Sherpa for all the interesting information. Did the Morris catelogue mention a model number 613? That's the model number of my NMI.

Thanks Grover57. That gives me some direction on questions to ask. Getting in touch with a professional musician acquaintance of mine to see if he will look at it and give me more information about it.

model 613- There's not a W613 on the catalog page they sent. There is a W602, W602B, W603, W604, W604TB, and two 12 string models, B702, & B704.

Hi,
Just joined because of looking for details on a Nashville guitar I purchased new in March 1979. It just has the pearl inlay NASHVILLE on the headstock, not the full Nashville Musical Instrument, and it is not a Martin style headstock. The inside label (very small) says N-40D made in Japan. The date code on the brace near the neck is 7704050. I bought it new in 1979--h ave the sales slip in the case. With case it was $300. Purchased from a place called the Podium just off of the University of Minnesota Campus. Both a music and Tobacco(?) product store. The salesman at the time said they were handmade in Japan. I was very impressed with both the quality of the build, and the bright , loud tone and the sustain. It has traveled far North and South several times, and seems to get even better sounding with age. Also-- it can sit for a year, various changing heat, cold, humidity conditions and it is always in or very close to in tune. If anyone has any more info on these guitars please post it. Hi Southtex. Your guitar sounds like it could be similar to mine. My guess is that your guitar was built in April, 1977. I have an N-50D model. See my comments on page 3 of this thread.

Spec'd and imported by GTR after Gruhn split? I am pretty sure GTR lived on after George and I recall the Japan import thing. Been a long time though.
Not to be confused in any way with Nashville Guitar Company. Marty builds em in East Nashville and they are good guitars. hunter |

I have nothing to contribute to the NMI research, except that I'm only aware of one lawsuit from that era concerning copyright infringement. Gibson sued Ibanez, and the result was that the Gibson headstock was protected by copyright, but nothing else was. Ibanez was ordered to cease using the Gibson headstock shape, but by that time they had already changed their design.
The only other suit was much more recent, and the court decided that the PRS bird inlays are protected by copyright.

Thanks Folks. Wannabe-- sounds like we have the same manufacturer. Have always liked this instrument better than some of the more expensive guitars I have owned. Guess that is what's most important.

I too have always enjoyed the sound of my Nashville even though it didn't cost very much.

Necro-bump.
$10,000 for a Nashville? Really? Anyways, they are/were pretty common up here, and I've always just considered them to be reasonable quality budget-type guitars--sort of like the old Hondos from the same time period. I've seen several of the acoustics around since the early 80s, and a few electrics as well--Strat and Tele copies. I searched up this thread because while tidying/sorting through some old stuff, my wife found my old Nashville P-bass copy. Dusty as hell, but structurally sound with heavy brass hardware. If someone offered me $10K for it, I'd grab the dough and then run for the hills... |

Hi folks.
I realize this an old thread and focuses on the made in Japan guitars. Does anybody know anything about the Nashville 217 made in Korea guitar? Thanks |
