I really like that peg head inlay. Works very well within that area.

This guitar is going to be very cool and a good memorial to my brother! I only wish they built dreads, though I will be able to play this one out!

Despite the risks associated with it, I always play my best guitars out. You only live once! That said, I don't play smokey bars either and I do a pretty good job of keeping drunks off the stage or wherever we are playing. Well except hot drunk girls (KIDDING!)

This one looks like it's going to be a really memorable guitar.

Great thread alreaady and the best is yet to come. Apart from the terrible loss, a themed guitar is really cool, in particular when it is not some D-100 type abalone vomitting but something really unique and new. The fretboard is awesome with this theme, and the headstock is really cool, too.

I was going for the cool surfing/long board look...may put some paua for the purfling since it is so striking against the redwood top. The idea was to embrace the materials of the earth and not be too blingy.

Keith, I agree. If I was you, I would leave the Paua to the Olsons and have this one earthy and woody. It is going to be really cool.

You can get some cool looks combining the redwood top with some fancy binding. I will get flamed maple on my Gwaltney, but the coolest of all is Mike Baranik's spalted Koa sapwood.

That is very cool.

We are bringing in a lot of different materials to put them together to see how it all looks. May try out some tiger myrtle, cocobolo, lots of other choices on headstock overlays and bindings...so we will start to pull together and see what we collectively come up with that the marriage of materials is right on.

The guitar will have a Florentine cutaway - we just wait until we get the top and back sanded to the proper thickness before we do that cutout.

This weekend we're building a new mold for Keith's guitar (and all other MS model guitars) and are thickness sanding his sides in preparation for profiling and bending.

More photos to be posted later this week.
