Stuck on a chord - Ain't Misbehavin'
Trying to get the chords down on this tune, but something doesn't sound quite right. In (what I guess is) the bridge section (playing in the key of G), I've got:
(Em) Like Jack Horner (C) in the corner (A7) Don't go nowhere (E9) what do I care? (D7) That E9 chord always sounds out of place. Anyone able to shed some light on this song? I've always wanted to learn it (thanks Leon Redbone!) but it seemed like too much to handle. Finally getting to the point in my playing where I can play most of the chords easily. Just got to get through the last part of the bridge. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave...
The Real Book lists it as: | Em | C7 | A7 | E7 | D6 B7 |...etc |

As Larry pointed out there is more than one way of approaching it.
Last year I did an arrangement in F. Here is a recording of that. http://dcoombsguitar.com/Guitar%20Mu...behavingAm.mp3 Maybe that will give you some more ideas.

In Jazz Classics for Fingerstyle Guitar Pat Donohue does it like this: Em, C, C#dim, E7#9, D, D#dim, Em11, A13, A7, Bm7, E7flat5, Am11, G#7flat5. But it's a lot easier watching him do it first!

Thanks for all your replies. This will help a lot.
Rick, nice job on the song. I'm just working on comping right now, so I can get the left hand figured out. Maybe I'll try it fingerstyle after a while, which is my preferred style of playing. It'll be a challenge I'm sure. I might check out Pat Donahue's instructional videos. I've got his video with Mike Dowling. And he even comes around here every once in a while! LJ, what version of The Real Book do you have?

Hi Dave...
Well, I own several hard copy versions, plus one for the iPhone/iPod Touch with nearly 750 songs in it... |

I learnt it from Pat's lesson and you're absolutely right, that's what he uses but I have to say that looks a LOT harder on paper than watching Pat play it or learning it from the tab! Goes to show you how a great teacher can make something like that so straightforward.
