Default My recording/video debut

Well, sort of. My friend Tom Nelson's band, Heathcote Hill, recently released a video for their newest single, and there's the 12 string I built for Tom, up close and personal.

Because Tom didn't want the traditional big, boomy, and jangly sound, we built it on a 000 frame and from the sounds of things, both he and his producer are very happy.

Here's producer/engineer Tim Hatfield (Keith Richards, Debbie Harry, Death Cab For Cutie) on the 12 string.

"Clean and articulate, and surprisingly powerful for its size, the Denvir 12 really pulled the whole track together. A beautiful guitar.”

And here's a link to the video. All I have to do now is teach the editor how to distinguish between a 6 string and a 12 :-)

Well, that was fun! Thanks for posting. Cool 12 string guitar and great to hear it in the mix.

Best,

Thanks for the kind words Tim. As a fellow Somogyi grad, I’ve admired your work for a while now.

No pickup, just mic’ed in the studio.

That’s why I was so pleased with the producer’s feedback/review.

Steve

Excellent, I was hoping you’d say that! I didn’t see a cord so I thought it might be straight into a mic.

Terrific song, professional recording, the guitar sounded perfect and that singer is exceptional.

I know I can be a little slow on the uptake, but it just occurred to me that you couldn’t actually see the really fun bits of the guitar in the video.

Killer quilted sapele back and sides.

Wow. It's really a humbling experience to see real musicians at work. What a great song.
