True, Bob. Today’s was a challenge. I’ve wondered how the guy who oversees the game chooses the word of the day.

If anyone's interested, there's a website..."wordlegame.org" where you can play to your heart's content instead of waiting for one game a day...

There’s a “Hard Mode” option under the settings button where you must use the hints subsequently. Otherwise, yeah, 6 chances at the bat makes it too easy. 5 should be plenty.

Just had my first crack at Wordle (though I have been aware of its popularity for at least a month). I liked it! Thanks for the introduction!

I'd heard about it but hadn't looked it up to try until now. Thanks so much for the link...which I"ve bookmarked, natch. Pretty sure I'll be hooked now.

Well! This will change everything, I suspect. The New York Times just bought all rights to that game and will be moving it to its site. No final word on whether it’ll be free going forward. I bet not. Good for the creator, though. He got “low 7 figures” for a simple game he created just a few months ago.

Yeah, the idea of the Internet teaching people how to spell was too good to last.

My wife showed it to me yesterday. I'm already hooked on Soduku though.

I think the key is to find a good first word, one with lots of vowels and a couple of oft-used consonants, and use it every day.

And don't EVEN ask what mine is, 'cause I don't want everybody wearing it out!

Me too. It definitely exercises the noggin. I can see why it's addictive. I've been playing Letterboxed and the other free games on the NY Times daily free version. Good for keeping the brain sharp.
